    Director's Notes:

Welcome to the 34th Annual Musical Production here at Northern Lehigh! In 1943, two well-known figures in American theater collaborated for the first time on a musical. The reputation of these two men and their work in the 1930's had already earned them a place in musical history. Their initial project was to be a symbol of Americana and focused on turning the play by Lynn Riggs, Green Grow the Lilacs into a musical. It was not to be just any musical, but one that changed the way we looked at theatre. Those two pioneers created the show that began the modern age of theatre with their production, Oklahoma! The success of Oklahoma! launched the collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II who went on to create such great shows as South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music. We hope you enjoy our production of this great American classic and thank you for your continued patronage and support!
