Plot Synopsis:
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Production Notes:
Lionel Bart's "Oliver!," performed on April 26, 27 1974 on the Slatington High School's stage was literally a one man show. By that we mean, Mr. George Fennell served as Dramatic Director, Vocal Director, and Set Designer. His competent all-around direction of the leads such as Geoff Hughes, Debbie Schleicher, Cheryl Roth, Larry Williams, Steve Trollinger, Cathy Sneidman, Tina Wassum and the fifty street vendors, thieves, and orphans made "Oliver!" a fun filled and enthusiastic show (despite the night poor Oliver hid in the coffin on stage and the lid jammed!).
