Hello! My name is Sherri Molitoris and I am the Director of Business Affairs & Human Resources for the district. After becoming a resident of the district in 1996, I quickly realized what an important part the Northern Lehigh School District plays within this tight-knit community. As a resident, a parent of students who attended our district, and an employee, I am very aware of the need to be fiscally responsible to our residents while striving to offer the best education possible for our students.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been working without a fully enacted state budget since the fiscal year began. Because the budget deadline passed June 30, the state has now been without a budget for 114 days. This continuing budget impasse creates a meaningful burden for school districts like ours: delayed state payments, increased uncertainty for planning, and potential cash-flow challenges for bills and payrolls.
However, I am pleased to report that our district remains in a strong financial position. Owing to our prudent budgeting practices, timely financial management, and healthy reserves, we have funds available to access until the state budget is passed. Therefore, at this time, we do not need to go out for a short-term loan in order to meet our obligations for payroll, vendor payments, or other operations. Our financial reserves will continue to be monitored throughout the budget impasse to determine if there is a need for a short-term loan in the future.
As a reminder: each year, our district’s real estate and per-capita tax bills are mailed on July 1. If you do not receive your tax bills, please contact our office so that duplicates can be mailed to you.
