Little Shop of Horrors (1991)

Plot Synopsis:
Seymour Krelbourn is a poor young man working at a run-down flower shop on skid row when he encounters a miracle. He discovers an alien plant after a total eclipse of the sun. After bringing the plant to the store, he gains fame, fortune, and love. The only defect is that the plant feeds on human blood. Seymour and the plant make a deal that if the plant continues to bring Seymour positive attention, he will in turn continue to feed the plant human bodies. Eventually, the evil plant eats Seymour and his close friends and acquaintances.

Director's Notes:
This horticultural horror proved to be a howling success. So successful in fact, that we had to add a fifth show. This large speaking, man-eating plant named Audrey II, demanded more and more and more. And that’s exactly what it got from leads Chris Mack, Jenn Andreas, Rusty Gebhardt, and Ed Burnard. Our street urchins, the CRC, Rebecca Blose, Casandra Byler, and Suzanne Stein kept us well informed as to the plants next move. The unusual set, the Dentist’s motorcycle, the keyboard orchestra on stage and the talented cast and chorus made this 50’s style musical a success. The unseen star of the show was naturally Audrey II, who was capably maneuvered by Jonathan Bernard. Everybody left the show with a miniature Audrey II and from what we’ve heard, they all died. Thank Goodness.
