Welcome to Northern Lehigh Middle School!
Hello, Northern Lehigh Middle School Students and Families:
As an alumnus of the Northern Lehigh School District and resident of Slatington, it is a unique honor to serve our middle school students and families as principal.
Our middle school is a College & Career For Every Student (CFES) National School of Distinction for 2023-24. All of our students receive learning opportunities in the college/ career ready essential skills: goal setting, teamwork, networking, agility, perseverance, and leadership. Additionally, all of our teachers are certified CFES mentors, meaning they have specialized training to guide students through the new challenges they will face in secondary education to better prepare them for their high school years.
The transition from elementary school to the secondary level can be filled with nervousness, uncertainty, and a bit of excitement. It’s an important time during which students really come to understand their unique interests and skill sets. I am confident that we can work together to make our students ready for the next level and beyond.
Remember that Bulldogs INSPIRE! They Innovate. Never Settle. Pursue Individuality and Responsibility Every day.
For the 2023-24 academic year, I have created the following Essential Skills Plan for our middle school. This plan aligns to our Bulldogs INSPIRE program and outlines our goals for the year.
GOAL SETTING: Northern Lehigh Middle School will continue to work toward achieving and exceeding the goals outlined in the district’s comprehensive plan, which includes both academic performance and student supports.
TEAMWORK: Northern Lehigh Middle School will continue to foster a strong sense of community with our Bulldog families through monthly “Coffee & Conversation” events with the principal. Families, students, and community members are welcome to attend each C&C to share ideas, give feedback, and brainstorm fresh approaches to learning experiences.
NETWORKING: Northern Lehigh Middle School will build new relationships with organizations that can help us provide the best possible student supports and the best possible learning experiences related to the difficult situations adolescents may face. We have started to build an educational relationship with the PA State Police regarding drug and addiction education, and we will bring new programming to the middle school through our Aevidum club and the Center for Humanistic Change.
AGILITY: Northern Lehigh Middle School will continue to rely on the strengths of our students, families, teachers, and staff to create an effective learning environment. We will promote collaboration between all stakeholder groups while working to enhance our programs and systems.
PERSEVERANCE: Northern Lehigh Middle School recognized that academic achievement is hard work. We will build a positive and supportive school climate in which students have the opportunity to find success. We will celebrate those successes through school-wide events. A culture of learning and personal responsibility will be at the forefront of what we do.
LEADERSHIP: Northern Lehigh Middle School recognizes that all students have leadership potential. Through our INSPIRE program, students can explore their interests, build their academics, and apply the essential skills to make the NL Bulldog community reach new heights. We are Bulldogs Together, Determined, Confident, Motivated, and Ready to INSPIRE!
Please take some time to look around our website and CANVAS space to familiarize yourself with NLMS information. Also, I encourage all students and families to read the student handbook. You can access the handbook HERE. I am available to answer any questions and listen to any feedback you have.
Yours in Bulldog Pride,
