Mame (1990)

Mame
  • Plot Synopsis:

After young Patrick Dennis's parents die, his nanny, Agnes Gooch, brings him to live with his last remaining living relative, his Aunt Mame. To Agnes's shock, Mame is a wild, party animal. Nevertheless, she is a kind woman and she and Patrick hit it off immediately. Things are basically going well until the stock market crashes and Mame loses her money. Eventually, after a series of odd jobs, Mame marries a rich man. After her new husband, Beau Burnside, dies, Mame is once again wealthy. This time, however, she spends her money on forming the Burnside Memorial Home for Single Mothers.

    Director's Notes:

MAME was Northern Lehigh's 20th Anniversary Show. It was also the show dedicated to tall of those extraordinary adults who have made our shows successful- the Production Staffs. It was the year Lisa Snell, Jenn Andreas, and Casandra Byler lead our show with a certain class. A ten foot high winding staircase filled the stage to add to the Beekman Place apartment. The same staircase Ito, Ivan Rosario, stole the show pushing a pregnant lady to the 2nd floor. Gooch became a Christmas tree, spent a night in the Shangri-La Motel in East Stroudsburg, PA and came out... MAME made us realize that in each one of us, there seems to be a flash of something a bit different, a new discovery in the way we think, feel, or move. Live! Live! Live! What a way to celebrate 20 years of musical success at Northern Lehigh!
