  • A Message from SES’s New Principal, Mr. Todd Breiner

It is with tremendous excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Slatington Elementary School.  I am anxiously awaiting the start of the new school year at SES and look forward to meeting and building relationships with students, faculty, staff, families, and community members.  I have already had the opportunity to meet many people in the school district and the pride for Northern Lehigh as well as the dedication for doing what is best for students has been such a wonderful thing to see.  It is obvious from my interactions that SES is considered to be a home cared for by many.  I am so happy to join the SES family and call SES my new home.

This transition is a homecoming of sorts for me as I am a resident of the Northern Lehigh School District.  I am very thrilled to serve and give back to the community where I live.  My career in education started with the completion of my Bachelor’s degrees at East Stroudsburg University.  After graduating, I began teaching in the East Penn School District.  While teaching health, physical education, and driver education and coaching two athletic teams, I completed my Master’s in Education at Kutztown University and my K-12 Administrative Certification at Penn State University.  After six years in the classroom, I began my journey in administration in the role of Assistant to the Principal at Emmaus High School. I served in this role for one year.  I was then hired as an assistant principal at Emmaus High School.  After two years as a grade level assistant principal, I was appointed as the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs where I served for more than three years.  Most recently, I have spent three years as the Principal of Pleasant Valley Intermediate School.  PVIS teaches students in grades 4, 5, and 6.  I approach every day with a growth mindset and I am a firm believer in trust, respect, accountability, and building strong relationships where we support each other to do the best we can for the students that we educate.  I am overjoyed to partner with you all as we learn and grow together in fostering an academic environment that ensures the success of all of the children who walk through our doors.

I am honored to have been selected to serve this community, and I will work tirelessly to gain your trust and respect as the SES principal.  Your feedback and involvement are always welcome in helping me serve all students to the very best of my ability.  As summer comes quickly to a close, I hope you get to enjoy some quality time with family and friends before the school year begins.  I look forward to this new chapter at SES and I am excited to be a Northern Lehigh Bulldog!!

I would also like to take this opportunity to formally welcome everyone to the 2021-2022 school year at Slatington Elementary School. The SES faculty and staff are very excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to sharing many positive learning experiences with our students and their families. Our goal as a school is to help all of our students become the best they can be both academically and socially in a safe school environment, while maintaining open lines of communication between the school and home. A great deal of time and effort was invested over the summer in the placement of students and the planning for the safe return of students and staff in the ever-changing COVID-19 world. Our goal is to place each student in a classroom environment that will support their academic and social success.

Additionally, it is our goal this year to do everything that we can possibly do to keep students in school in person five days per week. In order to accomplish this goal, we will follow COVID-19 mitigation strategies outlined in the NLSD Health and Safety Plan, which was approved as required by the PA Department of Education in July and is posted on the main page of the district website.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration at Slatington Elementary School, I want to thank you for partnering with us and and for your ongoing support, understanding, and cooperation in making this a successful school year.
