Welcome to Northern Lehigh Middle School!

Dear NL Middle School students, families, and community members:

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year at Northern Lehigh Middle School!  As an alumnus of the NL School District and resident of Slatington, it is a unique honor to serve our community as the new middle school principal.  I am looking forward to taking on this new role with full speed ahead. 

The transition from elementary school to the secondary level can be filled with nervousness, uncertainty, and a bit of excitement.  It’s an important time during which students really come to understand their unique interests and skill sets.  I am confident that we can work together to make our students ready for the next level and beyond.

We do, however, face new realities in education as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will be felt for years to come.  We must be partners in education as we strive to mend learning loss and give our students the skills they need to be successful.  To this end, one of our building goals this year is to revise our Positive Behavior Support program into something readily applicable to the classroom.  In conjunction with NL High School, we will launch the Bulldogs INSPIRE program.

Students will receive direct instruction in the Essential Skills of Goal Setting, Networking, Teamwork, Agility, Perseverance, and Leadership.  This framework will be reinforced in classroom practice and general building routines.  We want to acknowledge students for the gains they make and the good things they do for both the school community and the greater Northern Lehigh area.
