Director's Notes:
Good evening and welcome to our Silver Anniversary Musical. Fiddler on the Roof is one of the most beloved American musicals. It was first produced in our district twenty long years ago, in 1975, under the direction of Mr. George Fennell. The symbolic circles formed by the people of Anatevka along with their beliefs, their faith, customs, family and love, makes it the perfect musical with which to celebrate our 25th year of high school musicals. Over the past 25 years, many individuals have shared these same ingredients.
Like Tevye says, "Tradition. Because of our traditions, we've kept our balance for many, many years." That's true! Many adults have played an important role in keeping the musical tradition alive at SHS and NLHS. Their hard work, dedication and many, many tireless hours have made the past 25 years possible. It was their love and respect for the students in our district that sparked their interest. Naturally students have also kept the musical tradition alive! The overwhelming number of students that audition each year and serve as cast members is really a credit to our school. The many students who choose to work behind the scenes and make the productions successful are as important as the students on stage. Anyone who has been connected to any of our productions feels a sense of pride and accomplishment. I'm sure they will tell you it's a real honor to be involved in one of Northern Lehigh's musicals. Another group of individuals who have played an important role in the tradition of our musicals is you, the audience. The opportunity to perform for the Northern Lehigh community over the years has been rewarding. Your response and support has made all of the hard work worthwhile.
As the lights fade on my tenure as director of this successful activity, I would like to personally thank all those individuals who have helped me produce 15 years of memorable musicals. One person can't possibly undertake an activity such as this. However, with the help of dedicated production staffs we were able to do it together, successfully. I sincerely thank all of the students who have crossed our stage for their enthusiam and dedication and willingness to do almost anything to make the show work. I will certainly hang on to the many fond memories I have of the past and present. My wish is that this fine tradition continue for another 25 years. Many thanks!
