Cathi Evans
Class of 1984
Cathi Evans graduated from Northern Lehigh High School in 1984. She participated in field hockey from 1980 to 1982 where she earned two varsity letters; cross country from 1982 to 1984 where she earned two varsity letters, and softball from 1980 to 1984 earning 4 varsity letters along with serving as team captain. Cathi also played basketball from 1980 to 1984 where she earned four varsity letters, serving as the team captain and scoring 1,449 points sending the team to Northern Lehigh's first and only League Championship. Cathi also received the Unites States Army Reserve Scholarship Athletic Award, was a member of the LARC All-Star Team and was a member of the First Team Centennial League in 83 and 84. Cathi attended Clarion University where she played basketball for four years with the following stats: led the team in assists in 85 and 86, second on team in steals in 85 and 86, won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division in 87 and 88 for the first time in school history, and set a school record with 16 wins in 1987 and 18 wins in 1988. She graduated with a BS Degree in Communication and continued her education earning a Masters Degree in Communication from the University of Dayton in 1992 along with her Teaching Certificate from Antioch University in 1996. Cathi has worked as both a high school and college basketball coach and she has been a fourth grade teacher at the George C. Round Elementary School in Manassas Virginia for the past 15 years where she has been recognized several times as the schools' Apple Award recipient for outstanding teaching along with winning the Teacher Citizenship Award from the local VFW on two occasions.
Raymond "Jack" Follweiler, Jr.
Class of 1955
Jack Follweiler graduated from Slatington High School in 1955. During his years at Slatington he played Varsity Football for 3 years earning 3 Varsity Letters and was a member of the Lehigh Valley League Football All Star League. Jack also played Varsity Basketball for 2 years earning 2 Varsity Letters and was a member of the Ironman Team. Jack retired from Mack Trucks and worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He is a past President of the Slatington Lions Club, is a member of the Northern Lehigh School Board, and is an Active Guide at the Masonic Lodge of Slatington. Jack has two sons and six grandchildren.
Stephen M. Hluschak, Jr.
Class of 2000
Stephen Hluschak graduated in 2000 from Northern Lehigh High School. He played football for four years earning 3 Varsity Letters, was a Team Captain, had a school record of 62 receptions in 1999, and is one of only a handful of players in the history of the Lehigh Valley to both rush and receive for a 1,000 yards. He also participated in the 2000 Lehigh Valley McDonalds All-Star Classic where he had 159 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. His Honors and Awards include: All Colonial League in 98 and 99; Times News Player of the Year in 1999; Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 Player of the Year in 99; All-Area Morning Call Football Team in 98 and 99; A.P. All State 2nd Team Wide Receiver in 99; and Pennsylvania Football News First Team All-State in 99. Stephen also excelled in Wrestling at Northern Lehigh where he received 4 varsity letters, recorded 147 Career wins, won 3 Brandywine Heights tournament championships, won 3 district XI individual championships, and qualified 4 times for the PIAA Wrestling Championships; placing 3rd twice and 4th once. He was named to the All-Area Morning Call Wrestling Team, the All-Area Times News Wrestling Team, and the All Colonial League team from 1996 through 1999. He was the Team Captain in 98 and 99 and was the Wrestling Scholar Athlete in 1999. Stephen was also the Northern Lehigh male athlete of the year for the 99-00 school year. Stephen continued to play football in college at Lehigh University where he earned 4 Varsity Letters, was a member of the Lambert Cup Champions in 02, and Patriot League Champions in 01 and 02. Stephen graduated from Lehigh with Honors in 2004. He currently teaches Social Studies at Stroudsburg High School where he also coaches football and wrestling. Congratulations Stephen Hluschak.
Al Neff
Class of 1940 (Accepted by niece Linda Miller)
Al graduated from Slatington High School in 1940. He participated in Basketball, Baseball, and Football where he was an outstanding halfback. Al received 11 total varsity letters in his career. Al was the captain of Football, Basketball and Baseball in his senior year. He continued his education and football career at Moravian College where he was a standout running back. Al's playing days were cut short when he answered the call to duty from 1942 though 1945. During World War II he was wounded and then returned home. He returned to Moravian as a kicker on the Football team after his tour of duty. Al graduated in 1949. After college he took a job at Emmaus High School as a teacher and an assistant coach. After ten years as an assistant coach, Al took over the head coach position and produced a 32-17-1 record and two Lehigh Valley League Championships in five years, capped by a 9-1 season in 1967 that featured a perfect 7-0 LVL slate and the school's first outright football championship. Al was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1996.
Travis "Bo" Tkach
Class of 2001 (Accepted by mother Sandra Tkach and father James Tkach)
Bo graduated from Northern Lehigh High School in 2001. He played football during his three years in high school where he earned 3 Varsity Letters and the following awards and honors: Two-time All State Football Player; was a member of the 1998 Colonial League championship team; was quarterback of the 1999 1st Northern Lehigh District XI champion football team and played in 1st East-West PA All-Star game. Bo was the quarterback to fellow inductee, Steve Hluschak Jr. and the duo combined to set the reception record at Northern Lehigh. Bo was also a member of the track & field team for 3 years, earned 3 varsity letters, and was a two-time Colonial League and District XI javelin champion. Bo was also named to the ESPN US Navy Football and Academic All - American. Bo was also selected as Northern Lehigh's "Best of the Best" by the Northern Lehigh Faculty. He also worked with youth programs in the Lehigh Valley conducting speed camps for athletic programs. Bo played football at the University of Delaware where he received a football scholarship. He then transferred to Lehigh University and then Wilkes University playing football at both schools. Bo passed away in 2007 after battling OCD and Depression. The Bo Tkach Foundation was established in his memory. The mission of the foundation is to create awareness for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other mental health issues while providing essential funding for youth athletic programs, scholarships and otherwise inaccessible individual mental health screening and treatment.
Ivan "the Terrible" James Weiss
Class of 1970
Ivan graduated from Northern Lehigh High School (formerly known as Slatington Senior High School) in 1970. He played football for the legendary football Coach "Jack" Cassebaum. Ivan played on 3 consecutive Lehigh Valley League Championship Teams. He was on the '67 J. V. team and the '68 Varsity Team that was 9-1. He was also the Co-Captain of the "10-0 Here We Go" team and that was the first undefeated team in the school's history. Ivan was an All-State tackle his senior year. He was a member of the track team for four years. He held the school's shot put record of 46' 9" his senior year. He was a member on the wrestling squad for two years. He was a member of the Varsity S Club and the Future Business Leader Club. Ivan went to California to play Junior College football at the College of Sequoias. He became the first Two-Time J. C. All American football player at COS. When he played on the 1970 State Championship Team for COS he was awarded the Defensive Player of the Game trophy. They retired his "77" jersey after his graduation. Ivan went on to star for the UC Berkeley "Golden Bears" in the Pac 8 League. For his outstanding performance, his senior year, he was chosen to play on the 1975 Hula Bowl All Star Team. Ivan graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with a BA in Sociology. He earned a teaching credential from Chapman University.
